My amazing whirlwind adventure with BlogFest 2013 - Part 1

Though I have wanted to for the past 2 years, this was the first time I had the opportunity to participate in BlogFest, and it was truly an amazing opportunity. I will go into detail in the next couple of days as I have much work to catch up on now. But, in short, I met some truly wonderful people, made new friends and caught up with old friends. It's always so inspiring to be with a large group of truly talented people. There was an incredible electricity and energy in the air. It was contagious!

I was thrilled to meet the lovely, funny and very talented Thom Filicia. I have no idea what we are talking about here but he looks totally engrossed... I remember telling him a trick to look good for the camera. Well, for me it failed miserably. I went back and told him so!

The other thing I found so incredible was how, in a matter of just two days, my past caught up with my present. While at the Kravet studios I met Aerin Lauder who was introducing her new line of fabrics. After she had finished talking I went over and introduced myself, and explained that her grandmother and my grandmother had been friends and in fact, on numerous occasions, Estee had visited my grandmother's house in Cannes.

At a wonderful lunch hosted by Hearst Publication's HGTV Magazine in their wonderful Hearst Tower with their most amazing view of Manhattan, I randomly tossed my bags down at a table next to three women who were left handed. (I'm left handed as well!) The woman next to me, I soon learned, was the daughter of the man who was director of The Whitney Museum. As soon as I saw her last name on her badge I practically shouted out her father's name for the whole city to hear! My mother had been director of public relations there, during the very years he was there. She had adored him so!

And lastly, as I was leaving the press office of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Javits Center I practically ran over Michael Boodro, currently Editor in Chief for ElleDecor. He worked with my mother at the Museum of Modern Art with my mother way back when I was still a true blond in pony tails! It was fun briefly catching up with him. I told him of all these interesting ties to my past, and he made a funny comment about my never being able to escape my mother. He told me I look alot like my mother. (I'm not sure how to take that!!!) And because I know she reads this, I am to tell her that he sends her his love and hopes he is not traveling the next time they have their little MoMA reunion!

I must go and wake the kids and continue on with my mad day...

I will continue with my fabulous BlogFest adventures in the next days.

Have a wonderful Thursday, or as I like to call it, Friday Eve!

XOXO,
Jessica
