Last week I contributed to Bettie Pardee's Private Newport blog in collaboration with Mindy Lockard and wrote about Wedding Mishaps: Handling them with Poise and Grace. While I Mindy and I were collaborating I was searching for images that I thought would best fit our theme, in so doing it was brought to my attention that The Redwood Library and Atheneum in Newport, Rhode Island recently hosted a wedding. I thought how wonderful, a library as a wedding venue! But the Redwood isn't just any library. It's historic and beautiful in the way that old libraries are. As I dreamily scrolled the many wonderful images captured by Molly Lo Photography, I thought to myself this needs to be shared! What a fantastic idea! How many times have you seen a library as a wedding location? I myself have not. While you may be thinking of Newport and imagining breathtaking views of the sea where sailboats and large ships glide off in the distance, the city's outdoor season is quite limited and once the summer sun has set, the chilly air sets in. Temperatures notwithstanding, inside a library no one has to worry about rain, snow, hurricanes and whatever else mother nature might toss our way. One needn't be engaged to have a party at a library. I can imagine them for all sorts of wonderful events. Do you live near a beautiful and historic library?

Or maybe your wedding years have long ago come and gone but you need a creative venue for a different type of formal affair. I love the idea. I think it's genius... and completely book-worthy!
