Following in my Footsteps...
It seems fitting that someone who wants to steal my shoes should want to follow in my footsteps. Rebecca loves to write. She has a collection of journals that she keeps stashed away in her room... in her bedside table, closet, dresser, etc... I had the same collection as a child. Yesterday Rebecca had a DARE graduation ceremony. (It's an anti-drug campaign organized through our town's Police Department.) The student who won the essay contest would be able to read their essay aloud at their graduation. Rebecca won! She had hoped she would, but there is a lot of great talent in her Fifth Grade and so she wasn't so sure. She read her essay and I was so proud of her.
Tonight her Fifth Grade class is going to read the poetry they have been working on this semester at Barnes and Noble in Westport, CT. What great experience for these children. Public speaking is something the school believes in and the children start early on. What a great venue for my Fifth Grader and what a great experience this will be!
I can't wait to hear what these children have to say... I can wait to see the damage my three kids will cost me at the bookstore after the reading!

Just got back. The kids were amazing! What talent they have and what an amazing opportunity to have had!
The Fifth Grade Poets after their reading... Yes, that's my daughter in front being a silly, goofy ham!
