As much as we equate ice cream and swimming, swings, fireflies, campfires and s'mores, hammocks, iced tea and lemonade, lazy, hazy days, sprinklers, bathing suits, flip flops, straw hats and paperback novels with summer, there are certain songs that will be forever etched in our heads and our hearts... There are certain songs that caused us to create mixed tapes, CDs, or add to our iTunes play lists.

So much of what makes our summers memorable ones are the songs that we listen to... the music of the season eventually becomes the soundtrack of our lives... Memories are created to music.

When I listen to songs from summers past, I am transported back to a slower, easier place... to more relaxed times... These songs evoke memories that make us fall in love all over again... They make us want to run, bike and swim... They make us want to jump into lakes, swimming pools and run into the ocean... They make us want to curl up on the porch with nothing but our headphones and our memories... They bring warm smiles to our faces as we reminisce about tender moments, our childhoods and our coming of age... Summer wouldn't quite be summer without the following songs, and all the songs that have not yet been written...

The following songs are reminiscent of the lazy, hazy days of my summers in the 1980s  as I was coming of age...
