The Entertaining House

We're Moving!!

We’ve been in the Little White House for a little over 7 years. I’d never intended to be here so long; this was our transitional house as we downsized and shifted gears. We were, for the first few years, that newly broken family striving to get our footing and get back on track. It took a while, and we were wobbly at first, but found our stride and while this was never our perfect house, our final solution, it was good for us. The house was small but its location was perfect. We were walking distance to the elementary school and a quick bus ride to our middle and high schools. We were a quick hop into town and our location really couldn’t have been more ideal. But houses are a lot to maintain and as I forge forward with my own business while being as present as I can as “mom” and finding some time for my personal life. Simply put, the house was taking much too much of my time, and the expenses … well, I’d rather invest them elsewhere.

And so we are condo bound! Well them there are words I never thought I’d say!

An opportunity came up last weekend and I jumped on it. With one in college and another headed there in a year, I’ll be down to one kid at home. With his siblings gone I want to focus more time on him. And the truth of the matter is, The Little White House never really felt like home - it always felt like a temporary dwelling. While I have no idea how long I’ll be at the condo with its gorgeous space, Cathedral Ceilings (and a pool!), I do know that its bright white interior beckons me with it’s grand and blank palette. Now that the kids are older and grown, I’m looking forward to creating a space that is more sophisticated, yet still very liveable.

We’ve much to do in such a very short amount of time. Because my youngest starts school at the end of the month, I want to be in the new place a few days prior to that so he can feel somewhat settled and not living entirely out of boxes. Seriously, we have SIXTEEN DAYS to pack up this house. YIKES!
