About
Welcome (back) to The Entertaining House. First launched in 2007, as Tales from my Crazy Crowded House, as a blog to share the musings of my very young family with family and friends. Suddenly people I didn’t know stopped by to read and comment and my readership started growing by leaps and bounds. This was nearly 20 years ago when the word blog wasn’t completely known or understood. About a year later my growing family needed more space and we moved to a large house a few miles away. We needed a new name. Back then I was very acting in an online parenting group called iVillage and one of my friends in the group suggested the name The Entertaining House because I loved to Entertain and we were pretty entertaining. I loved it! Over the next few years, as my oldest was entering the tumultuous pre-teenhood years, and I decided I needed to pivot and take the spotlight away from her so I shifted my focus to entertaining, and soon my audience would shift and grow along with me.
Soon The Entertaining House would become a popular lifestyle blog as I wrote about food, fashion, decor and travel. In 2008, I was invited to a design bloggers event as part of a guest audience on the Nate Berkus show where I was introduced to so many influential industry talents. My writing and, subsequently, my photography and marketing careers were launched from this platform.
In 2010 my life shifted again when I filed for divorce and in 2012 it was finalized. I wrote about my experiences with raw emotion and was met with both open-armed embraces as well as harsh criticism.
This year my life has shifted yet again. I lost my mother at the end of May after a very brief battle with Leukemia, just two and a half years after my father passed away, and my youngest fled the nest in September.
I figure out what the rest of my life will look like, I’m about to start restorations on the family home in
