There's nothing like farm fresh produce. Nothing. There's something about the fresh from the ground flavors that simply cannot be replicated. Even the Certified Organic items at your local grocery store lack that just picked freshness. Luckily more and more people are starting to see and taste the difference and are frequenting their local farms. Luckily the local farm movement is growing at a fast and furious pace. Unfortunately some of these farms are still too far for us to access on a regular basis or demands and constraints of hectic schedules keep us closer to home. Lucky we are to have access to so many wonderful farmer's markets across the country. One of my favorite ones in Fairfield County is the Westport Farmer's Market (WFM) where you can get everything from vegetables, to eggs to fresh meats, cheeses, breads, coffee, and desserts. (Oh the desserts!) Additionally there are honeys and jams and all sorts of wonderful artisanal products. At the WFM it's not so easy to just come and go because they want you to stay awhile and eat... there's an organic pizza truck, and even organic local Mexican food. There's something for everyone, vegetarians, vegans, pescatarians, and carnivores alike. If you've never been you really ought to check it out.  

Come see what 45 vendors that include food trucks, chef demos, yoga, organic eats, and children’s programming have to offer. Thanks to thousands of shoppers from all over Fairfield Country, WFM’s Thursday market is a destination not to be missed.

What's in store for2016? Plenty of old friends, along with some new faces. Look for integrated chef involvement, expanded children’s programming, and some gorgeous new Friends of the Market bags and offsite fun and educational events. Join the market at 12:00, high noon, to toast local food with organic green juice donated by The Stand.
