Mirror, Mirror, On the Wall ...

I just adore mirrors... not in a Carly Simon "You're so Vain" way but in an artistic way. I love mirrors in all shapes and sizes and the various effects they have on your home. Mirrors can lighten up a dark room. They can make small spaces appear bigger and they can serve as functional pieces of art. La Jolie Grandmere was a huge fan of mirrors for exactly these reasons. In the photos below are examples of how mirrors can be used in every room of the home.

The mirror in this dining room might well be my favorite. The tables and chairs are not so shabby either and I also adore the effect of the double candelabra ... but we're talking about the mirror here! I love that the mirror is positioned in such a way that it serves as an objet d'art, and that it enlarges and brightens the room. Isn't it magnificent?

This elegant mirror, strategically placed over the bathub and directly across from the windows adds a bit of old world charm to a fresh and modern space.

This elegant tortoise shell-like frame blends wonderfully into the living room wall and accompanies the decor perfectly without being overpowering.

In this dining room the mirror almost seems to be a part of the architectural detail as it adds functionality, style and space.

You don't often see mirrors in kitchens but I think these cabinet doors are clever, marvelous and fun!

These mirror panels add an airy touch and accentuate all the natural light that flows into the room.

I simply adore how these two mirrors mirror each other and frame the entryway to the kitchen.

Another larger than life mirror adds fun and functionality to this sitting area.

Martha Stewart creates the illusion of a mantel or a chair rail by strategically placing the mirrors at the same height.

Martha adds a whimsical touch with this circular mirror collection.

The small round mirrors are a gentle contrast to the rooms otherwise linear feel.
