Dear Pantone,

I'm not so sure about this Emerald Green thing... you know "the color of the year" that you chose for 2013. I've been in New York a lot lately. It's no secret that New Yorkers are trendsetters. It's no secret that New York is edgy, fast paced and in the know. In fact even on the drabbest and grayest of days, the city is bursting with color. But not just any color. I think we should take note. I think you should take note. I think New Yorkers are trying to tell you something... I think the city is trying to tell you something!

Yellow is such a vibrant and happy color. It's the color of sunshine. It's the color I think of when I think of New York. But New Yorkers seems to like their Tangerine Tango as well, your color choice for 2013. Tangerine Tango is another vibrant and happy color. New Yorkers, much to many people's amazement, really are happy and with sunny dispositions... and we drink lots of coffee. Lots and lots of coffee... maybe that has something to do with it... and perhaps it has something to do with the fast pace here as well... maybe...

New Yorkers are embracing the neon trend. Pops of neon yellow are everywhere.

Just look at the beat on the street... The owner of this cool ride knows that yellow is the new black!

Just like real men eat quiche, real men wear (or carry!) yellow... and think about it... what color is quiche anyhow?!

I mean really, New York's bravest proudly wear neon yellow to work! If he can, then we can!

I felt as though I was snooping on something I shouldn't have been... This was a bit voyeuristic, I admit, but I was trying to get a picture of this yellow sweater, I didn't know that it would lead to my capturing a sweet and endearing moment!

And many New Yorkers still embrace their Tangerine Tango...

New York's got it going on... Tangerine Tango is still almost as popular as yellow!

But Dear Pantone, I really think that next year's color should be yellow, don't you think? Take a look around with me...

Even the windows in Grand Central Terminal celebrate the 100th Birthday of the grand building are dressed in yellow!

And do you know what, Dear Pantone?
Do you know what color I did NOT see on the streets or anywhere in the city?
You guessed it - Emerald Green!
So what do you say?
Don't you think the color for 2014 should be yellow?
{New York} Taxicab Yellow, of course!

XOXO,

Jessica
