203 Style :: A New Lifestyle Brand Embraces its Local Community
Everyone knows that you absolutely cannot wear your souvenir T-shirt while on vacation; it's a major fashion faux pas... Until now... Enter TheTwoOhThree, a new lifestyle brand born out of a brother and sister's pride for their hometown of Westport, Connecticut. This popular lifestyle brand boasts a line of fun and colorful clothing and accessories bearing the area's area code.
"I didn't fully realize how lucky I was to live in Connecticut until I studied at college in Ohio," explained Tory Brown, co-founder of TheTwoOhThree. "No matter where you live in the state, you can hop in a car - and within an hour - you're surrounded by the beauty of the beach and the Long Island Sound."
Close siblings, Tory and Roscoe Brown had often talked about working together. When Tory approached Roscoe about the need for a quality local lifestyle brand, he jumped on board immediately.
"While local residents strong sense of love and enthusiasm for the 203 has always been apparent on social media, we wanted to create something more tangible," said Roscoe. "Our goal became clear: to create a brand designed to harness the positive energy that already exists in local CT communities."
Tory and Roscoe spent much of their initial research and development phase going to events and talking to locals. "To create a successful lifestyle brand, you have to live it too," said Tory. "We needed an open communication channel with our customers."
Quality has always been an incredibly important piece of the brand. At the start of every season they cull through sample after sample before finalizing the line. The passion these two have for their brand is amazing. TheTwoOhThree is not just another t-shirt company; it's something you want to be a part of.
"The products have to positively and effectively represent this community and what we stand for," added Roscoe. "That's why we locally source all the printing and embroidery on our products."
The brother-sister team frequently tap into local talent to help support other small businesses. Currently they are working with a local artist to create unique hand-painted accessories - think ornaments and glassware - that are only available at pop-up events, such as the upcoming PopShop Holiday Market on December 4th in Fairfield, CT.
TheTwoOhThree has become very popular across Fairfield County. This season's colorful baseball caps simply embroidered with "203" quickly became a must-have accessory for summer, just check them out on Instagram (look for #thetwoohthree) and you'll see happy, smiling vacationing faces proudly sporting their colorful caps and while toasting to summertime and the good life with their own branded "roadie" cups. (Cheers!)
Tory and Roscoe continue to focus on local events where they sell their products "pop-up" style, however you can also purchase online or at their ever-growing list of local retail partners, including DownUnder (Rowayton & Darien), No. 299 (Fairfield) and The Mason Jar (Monroe), among others. Look for their famous corn hole and life-size JENGA games at local festivals and farmer's markets.
While attending events and building the product line requires most of their time, Tory and Roscoe remain committed to supporting the local community. Annually on February 3 (2/03), the brother and sister team host a 203 Community Day during which they focus on beach and park clean ups or donating warm gloves to those in need.
