Product Review :: And the best dry shampoo on the market is....
Best invention. Ever. At least since Spanx.
What Spanx does to your middle Batiste Dry Shampoo does the opposite! (For your hair, of course!)
Today's dry shampoos have come a long way from those of our mother's generation. In the past, if I needed to quickly run out but my hair wasn't at its best, I'd tousle some baby powder into the roots which would coat the little strands and give them some life and some semblance of being clean. Then came the dry shampoo which took the hair industry by storm. There are now dozens of varieties out there from affordable drugstore varieties to your pricier salon versions. I can't say that I have tried them all, but I have tried many, if not most of them. But it was one, just one in particular that I found to be extraordinary. Batiste Dry Shampoo not only leaves your hair looking and feeling clean, it instantly thickens thin fly-away hair and adds texture and body. For the best results, separate and lift hair in sections and spray toward the roots. You can leave it in or comb it out. The results, I assure you, are staggering. In fact, I love the additional volume it creates that I often spray it onto clean, dry hair.
You will notice that with the cool spray comes a white, powder-like residue. This is what adds the instant volume. I happen to love the white against my highlights for yet another dimension of color, but the white can leave some hair looking dull or grey. For this there are now many other dry shampoos from which to choose to match up with your hair color.
For those in need of a color or root touch up, these sprays provide a perfect, inexpensive, temporary solution. It is important to note, however, that these colors do show up on clothing, towels, etc. I used the product for blondes which produced a yellow tinted spray. The color on my hair was nice (I do prefer the original white for myself) but I didn't love the yellow residue that was all over the shoulders and down the back of my black cardigan. If you plan on dry shampooing your hair before a big event or important meeting or date, I do suggest doing so while wearing a towel or an old T-shirt.
