What to wear this summer :: White is Hot!
I happen to adore white and no time more so than in summer. White seems effortless and cool, even on the hottest of days.
We're not yet into July. The hottest of days are yet to come. As is the humidity. So far we've had an enjoyable summer - comfortable with gentle breezes. But we know it won't last and the dog days are ahead of us. I very much believe in dressing for comfort and style. In fact I believe that when one is comfortable one is stylish. When clothes fit well, clothes are stylish. During the warm days of summer dressing for comfort is essential. We search for clothes that are lightweight, have breathability, and of course, flattering - that that don't cling to the skin, but skim it gently. Contrary to what many believe white is flattering when worn in a style that suits one shape and age.
Our wardrobe is such this time of year that it must take us from the hot streets to cool offices, shops and restaurants - and for this nothing beats a little white dress for chic and casual sophistication. From weekend afternoon to workday morning, there's a white that's appropriate, stylish and comfortable. White is incredibly versatile and ranges from casual to sophisticated. Always classic, this timeless hue won't fade from style, especially given that it's not seen as the seasonal color it once was. Flowy, gauzy dresses are great for outdoors and those who work in a more casual workplace, as are white jeans and white pants with a loose, yet fitted white top - paired off with a belt and pretty sandals for more casual or heels for a dressier look. A more fitted dress, tailored pants and tops transition easily from a more formal office to evening cocktail party. White is the must wear color of the season.
