Preppy Ghetto Girl Sings Again!
Again my truck becomes my means of releasing energy. I turn up the stereo a bit. (My preteen is always telling me my music is too loud!) I sail through the back roads lined with perfectly manicured lawns and pristine elegant estates, windows open, wind on my face, through my hair... it feels great and then a wonderfully appropriate song comes on. One of my favorites that can be applied to every day life... I sing (if that's what you want to call it!) to Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten."
I am unwritten,
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten, yeah
Oh, oh I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines,
oh yeah yeah
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way oh, oh
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
the rest still unwritten
(Gospel)
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open *****
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
I am actually looking forward to going to the grocery store this morning. I have a ton of stuff to get. I'm already dressed. Admittedly I was very tempted to go out in my scrubs but I didn't. Instead I pulled out my charcoal grey ruffle collared sweater (I drew a picture of the black one yesterday) to wear with a JCrew long sleeved grey T-shirt and a pair of winter white cords. Orange JCrew suede loafers would add a touch of color. The nerves and stress have caused the pounds to melt away. (The positive in an otherwise negative situation!) I haven't worn these pants in years. I am happy. And yes, I realize I am also extremely shallow especially after claiming to have finally come to peace with my body. Well, I just like it that much more now
I pull out of the driveway and Rebecca comes scrambling down the stairs half dressed... her shoes and sweatshirt are in her hand and her hair is a mess. She asks to come with me. Drat! I was hoping for more singing at the top of my lungs! Rebecca does not approve of me doing this and gets downright embarrassed. It's cute. And fun! I let her hop in next to me and we head off
I enjoy the company, actually. I also know that my grocery bill is going to cost me about $25 more. But, shopping with her has it's advantages. She spots some fun items that I'm not sure I would have!
Like these adorable composition books on blowout for $1.99... they remind me of the now popular posters with the famous quote "Keep Calm, Carry On." Aren't they adorable? I thought so too. I picked one out for myself.
Then Rebecca discovers this new Seasonal Release Pumpkin Spice pudding and we pick up a couple of boxes of those as well... Hell-O? Did you say Pumpkin Spice pudding by Jell-O?
Someone must want me to do some baking, because also get tossed in to the shopping cart!
After what seems like an eternity we arrive back at the house. I walk in to the kitchen and the entire contents of the fridge are out on the counters. Daddy is semi cursing under his breath... Better him than me! And how I have a fabulously clean and sparkly fridge once again. (Thank you Buggy!)
While he tackles that mess I hit all the bathrooms -- sinks, showers, tubs... I sweep out the garage, do some laundry, vacuum the downstairs (upstairs is tomorrow) and vow to make some enquiries about finding someone to come and clean. I also decide to put Rebecca's finds to use and create a Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Swirl Cake using canned pumpkin and the Pumpkin Spice pudding. It takes a bit longer to cook so no one has had any as of yet... but I hear it calling my name, and it sure smells good!
The weekend is almost over... I've made it! Tomorrow morning, yikes, I'll put the phone call in to the surgeon... Eek!
Meantime, I'm headed downstairs to try some of that yummy smelling stuff sitting on my kitchen counter!
