24, Faubourg

Rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris is cited as being one of the most fashionable streets in the world thanks to the presence of virtually every major global fashion house. 24, Faubourg is the home of Hermes International, S.A. It's also the name of one of my favorite fragrances.

I don't wear perfume all that often. I have three que j'adore: Samsara by Guerlain, 24 Faubourg by Hermes and Miss Dior by Dior. Mostly they sit on my dresser looking pretty, until recently.

Alexander, much to my dismay loves to play with them. He loves their smells. And with good reason, they are lovely!

Alexander also has a very hard time separating from me when he needs to go to school. He's been in school for a year and a half now, and he adores it, but really, where he most would prefer to be is by his Mommy's side. (And who can blame him!) Often he'll come running out at the end of the day and jump into my arms and greet me with the biggest hugs and kisses. There is truly no feeling better than this! As he is hugging and kissing me he'll say "Momma, I just missed you so much today!"

A little while ago we started a morning ritual. We'll pick his favorite perfume and spray a little bit on his sleeves, and then we'll spray a little bit on my wrists or cuffs. And we'll tell each other that when we are starting to miss each other, we'll simply raise our wrists slightly... He'll take a little sniff and know that I am near and that he will see me soon. Ahh, the power of smell.

Our perfume of choice today was 24, Faubourg. And, today, I have never been so happy to have this little ritual!
