Christmas Edition of Getting to Know your Friends!
Welcome to the Christmas edition of getting to know your blogger friends. Okay, here's what you're supposed to do, and try not to be a SCROOGE!!! Just copy this entire post and paste into a new post on your blog, if you have one. Change all the answers so that they apply to you.
This is not a Meme or a Tag. You simply play along if you wish to. Or just read the answers. Like, my friend Princess Freckles over at Her Highness of Cute I like these kinds of things and I like lists and I love anything that has to do with the holidays!
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I used to love to wrap and have my beautiful packages stand out in glory, but when wrapping for four immediate family members, usually in a rush, my goal these days is just to get everything wrapped and safely hidden!
2. Real tree or Artificial?
Real! Two of them! We have a fun, casual tree in the family room with colored lights. Ick -- but the children begged for years and years and so when we moved I caved because I would get my very own tree! So now we have a second tree in the living room that is much more formal with white lights and silver, gold and glass ornaments. It is spectacular! Admittedly, the children's tree isn't half bad ;)
3. When do you put up the tree?
Usually about 2 weeks before Christmas. We are going to cut our trees down today!
4. When do you take the tree down?
Usually the 2nd weekend in January.
5. Do you like eggnog?
Adore it!
6. Favorite gift received as a child?
I remember getting a toy typewriter! How I loved that thing!
7. Hardest person to buy for?
My husband.
8. Easiest person to buy for?
Me ;)
9. Do you have a nativity scene?
No.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
Mail! Snail Mail. Still need stamps!
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Ugh a platter that is gold and purple and just plain ugly. I actually love gold and purple, but this was just terrible. I have it in my basement in case I decide to host An Ugly Gift Exchange!
12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Many from my childhood. It was more special when Christmas movies came out just once a season. But, that said, I do love to be able to own some on DVD and love the Abc Family 25 Days of Christmas! Favorites? Elf, A Charlie Brown Christmas and a new one Yes, Virginia There is a Santa Clause! This one is sure to become a classic!
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
Right after Thanksgiving. My goal is to be done a week before Christmas this year!
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
No... not yet!
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
The sweets of course!
16. Lights on the tree?
Yes one with colored and one with white lights.
17. Favorite Christmas song?
Oh my too many to choose from... love so many of them! I do love the song Believe from Polar Express sung by Josh Groban. It just sends chills up and down my spine!
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
We stay home on Christmas morning then pack up the children to spend the afternoon with my in-laws. My parents visit us the day before or the day after Christmas. This works out well for us.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Yes.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star?
Angel on one and star on the other!
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
We give the children 1 present to open on Christmas Eve, a pair of new pajamas that they can wear to bed that night. Everything else waits until the morning!
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
The crowds and the lines!
23. Favorite ornament, theme, or color?
My grown up tree!
24. Favorite for Christmas Dinner?
On Christmas Eve we have a dinner of appetizers in front of the fire. I don't really have a favorite Christmas dinner. If I made one I would do a Christmas roast with Yorkshire pudding... or perhaps a Russian dish called Coulibiac which, in essence is a salmon en croute (puff pastry)... divine!
25. What do you want to do for Christmas this year?
Watch it snow!
26. Favorite Christmas tradition growing up?
Making Christmas cookies with my mother. Actually she would bake and cut them out about a month before hand. Then we would decorate them. We would spend all day doing this worrying about the tiniest detail. We made such beautiful cookies. Was so much fun!
27. Favorite tradition now?
Just getting our home ready for the holidays. I love it so!
28. Favorite Christmas Memory?
In England... at my grandmother's house. She always had these most lavish parties. I had been caroling in the village with some of the neighbors. We came back to my grandmother's party in full swing. And this adorable boy about 2 years older (major crush!) gave me a kiss! I was 13 I think... I swooned all night. Don't think I washed that cheek for months and months!
